Trip to the vet, april 2

Full day today!

After our field trip we headed home for lunch and a nap before heading to Broadview Reproductive Clinic for the pups'  NH Health Certificates (required health check before they head off this weekend to their fur-ever families)

The pups again traveled so nicely in the car and were wonderful patients for Dr. Tsoukalas.  I am so thankful that we have such wonderful reproductive specialits so close!

Puppy Field trip, April 2

Sunny.
Mild temps.
Snowstorm in the forecast later in the week.

Time to get out with the pups for a little field trip!

First, we took a drive to a local beach and playground.  Charlotte Ann's F1b Cockapoo puppies were such wonderful travelers - quiet and calm (not a peep!).

Then we stopped to play and explore along some local 4-wheeler trails.  The pups were so cute; confidently exploring - romping about - nibbling pine cones and sticks - sniffing all the smells - and not even fazed by the traffic going by!

Final stop was for some smoothies and snuggles (we even stopped at Marshalls to grab some pup treats so they wouldn't feel left out while we enjoyed our smoothies).

After exploring (out and about), it's time for a pick me up!

For the pups, it means a quick stop at Marshall's to find some of our favorite meat treats.

For the boys and I, it's Tropical Smoothie - yum!

Tuckered and ready to head home - Drew's squashmallow pup keeps a watchful eye on the puppies.

We've met our families, march 24

Charlotte Ann's F1b Cockapoo puppies have met their fur-ver families!

Visits were on Saturday, 3/16 and we welcomed 8 wonderful CHC families into our home.

The pups were delightful - engaging - silly - and sleepy (it's a lot to meet so many visitors).

We continue to work with the pups on new environments and situations - luring, adjusting, changing our approcach (or the environment) to make sure we are empowering them to take on "new" without enabling them (we do not want to "do" something for our pups).  In so doing, we are helping them to build basic skills of prolem solving and a belief in their own abilities.

Spring in New England can be quite dynamic.  We've had wonderfully mild days with plentiful sunshine allowing for loads of time to play and explore outdoors.  This weekend turned winter, with a snow and ice storm leaving the trees covered in ice - stunningly sparkly in the Sunday sun - so we headed outdoors for the pups 6 week photo shoot (ok, so closer to 7 - eek).  The pups were quite captivated by the crisp clean wind - the crackling beneath our feet and the tinkling of ice falling to the ground from branches overhead.

Let the socialization begin, March 10

At approximately 4 weeks of age, Charlotte Ann's Sandwing - Wings of Fire Cockapoo puppies are in the Socialization period.

During this time they are:

  • wagging their tails

  • building muscle strength and control

  • moving forward and backward (it's hilarious to watch them back up)

  • more aware of their surroundings

  • playing with each other

  • start to acknowledge us and our voice

  • curious and enjoy thinking

During this time we:

  • relocate their living space to a larger, more open space

  • expose them to a variety of footing (tactile) options, items that move (roll/wiggle), things that make noise (crinkle, squeak, talk) in a positive and safe manner (offering reassurance and praise if / when required) to encourage them to believe in themselves and their abilities.

We've been having a wonderful time getting to know them, watching them as they explore and learn about the world around them, and have playdates with Aria's - Eevee's - and Maple's pups.

We are looking forward to meeting families this coming weekend!

Safe and sound and getting round, February 17

Charlotte Ann welcomed her first litter of F1b Cockapoo puppies on Tuesday evening, 2/6!

Momma did amazing - attentively nuzzling and cleaning all her babies as they arrived - allowing us to assist when needed. Our entire family was by her side for the whole process - the boys assisted in weighing and logging pups as they were born.

Reid considers Charlotte Ann to be "his" doggie, so he has taken responsibility for this litter (with assistance as needed). He and Devin worked together on the name theme - and since they both like Wings of Fire they decided to name this litter after the Sandwings (Sand Dragons).

Welcome to the world:

*Destiny will begin reaching out to families currently on our waiting list, 2/18. These pups are spoken for by families on our waiting list.

Getting Close, February 5

Monday we headed back to Broadview with Charlotte Ann and Aria to get xrays.  These show us the number of pups momma is carrying, quite helpful when it comes time to deliver as we then are prepared for each pups arrival and know when momma is done.

We were blown away with the news that our sweet girl and first time momma is expecting 8 pups!

My little shadow is always by my side as we approach her due date.

We can see the pups wiggling in their mommas belly. SO cool!

And she loves the belly rubs.

Ultrasound x3, January 3

It's a group outing today as we had to Broadview for ultrasound checks.  With Charlotte Ann, Eevee and Aria due within days of eachother we were able to make one appointment with Dr. Kelleher to see if our mommas are expecting.

This was Charlotte's first ultrasound appointment, and though a little unsure at first - she quickly warmed up to all the attention and praise.

We are SO excited to share the news - Charlotte WILL be a momma!
